Artemide: leading brand in Italian designer lamps

The Italian brand of lamps, Artemide, founded in 1960, is one of the most prestigious in the world. The Artemide Group is one of the global leaders in both residential lighting and high-end professional lighting sectors. It stands out for its philosophy of “The Human Light,” and its name has become synonymous with design and innovation, representing a benchmark of Made in Italy craftsmanship.

Artemide has contributed to the history of international design with lamps such as Eclisse (1967, by Vico Magistretti), Tolomeo (1989, by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina), and Pipe (2004, by Herzog & De Meuron), all winners of the Compasso d’Oro award. Artemide excels in modern interior lighting, offering ceiling lamps, pendant lamps, floor lamps, table lamps, spotlights, and wall lights, as well as architectural and outdoor lighting solutions.

In 1994, Artemide was awarded the Compasso d’Oro for its overall career and the prestigious European Design Prize in 1997. Artemide’s Italian lamps are internationally recognized as icons of contemporary design, and several of them are exhibited in the most important museums of modern art and design collections worldwide, such as the MoMA in New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnica in Milan, the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome, or the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.

Since its inception, Artemide has collaborated with prominent international designers and actively promotes workshops with design schools such as the Royal College of Art in London, aiming to discover the best talents among young generations of designers.
