Baccarat: Tableware, glassware, and interior lighting products

The elegance of French glassware and lighting by Baccarat

Baccarat is the quintessential French crystal brand. Its history dates back to the 18th century. Suspension lamps, chandeliers, wall sconces, vases, and tableware—all form a unique universe of products crafted from the purest crystal by elite artisans who uphold centuries-old traditions.

The luxury French brand Baccarat is already legendary and famous for its wonderful crystal chandeliers and decorative objects and tableware. Baccarat’s designer products hold a prominent place in both luxurious classicism and the most innovative objects, glassware, and lighting fixtures designed by top contemporary creators. One of the values of this luxury brand, which favours the colour red, is the possibility it offers its customers to create custom-made products.

Baccarat is characterized by constant technical innovation, stylistic boldness, and creativity. Designers such as George Chevalier, Ettore Sottsass, Van Day Truex, Elie Top, Andrée Putman, Philippe Starck, Arik Levy, Jaime Hayón, or Marcel Wanders have renewed and continue to renew the brand with their particular interpretation of the world of Baccarat crystal. From Studio Baccarat, the firm conceives its projects for hotels, restaurants, and other unique spaces.

The history of Baccarat is an important part of the history of crystal itself. It began when King Louis XV of France granted permission in 1764 to the Bishop of Metz, Louis-Joseph de Laval-Montmorency, to establish a glass workshop in the village of Baccarat, in the province of Lorraine. The initial products consisted mainly of mirrors, goblets, and window glass until the first glass furnace was installed in 1816. By this time, the company employed over three thousand people. Since then, Baccarat has experienced an exemplary evolution, admirably adapting to changing markets in each period, overcoming historical challenges, and continually setting the standard.

Currently, its collections focus on tableware, fine glassware, and interior lighting.
